had a thanksgiving lunch with extended family
(some people still had work so we ate while everyone was still together)
hung out in the old rv and played catchphrase with my bro and cousins
was very much hilarious
black friday shopping
go to an outlet
cotton on opens an hour earlier than everyone else and the entire store is half off
get: two wallets, a pair of shoes, and a shirt
wander around, end up at xxi
get a 15% voucher and buy: a pair of fake glasses and a shirt and jacket for my boyfriend
wander around more
end up sitting outside of cotton on, waiting for my cousins to finish
cousin buys me and my brother socks from nike as our christmas presents
two of my cousins split off and keep shopping while the rest of us head on.
next stop: target, to get my aunt a camera (which they didn’t have)
lines were crazy long anyway
make it back to cousin’s house. devour thanksgiving food leftovers
contemplate sleeping over in the rv, go home but leave bro behind
and now i’m here.
the cookie cat link i put up is making the rounds again
thanksgiving treats anyone?
yesterday i had a job interview for a student supervisor lead and i think i aced it. the current managers asked me a few questions and gave me a few ‘what if’ scenarios. apparently, i gave textbook answers and one of the staff managers kept asking if i had any restaurant experience (which i don’t).
so i’m feeling pretty good on that end.
my boyfriend and i started a fish tank! we’re going to raise seahorses. it’s pretty exciting actually.
our next step is to add in fish to help cycle the water and make it more suitable for the seahorses.
but anyways, hope everyone has a relaxing holiday, spent with people you hopefully like.
don’t die during the sales stampedes and please, be nice to the employees, thank you.
i wanted to cook and so i made this, which i’ll dub:
SPONTANEOUS MINIMALIST FRIED RICE
what you’re going to need (aka, what i happened to have):
the process (aka, oh my god what am i doing what do i do):
eat it by itself or as a side dish. i recommend finishing with some hot green tea mixed with honey.
I have four assignment critiques to write and 14 pages of African-American literature waiting for me. Instead, I’m listening to capsule’s new album on repeat, catching up on my dash, and messing around on FB with friends from Japanese class.
It’s just been a long day. A long week even. Work’s great and it doesn’t even feel like work, it’s that fun. Yet, I always feel drained at the end of my shift. I actually fell asleep today and took an hour long nap after my shift. Oh my god, was that nap amazing.
I want to sleep now.
But I can’t.
Welcome to college life, redux.
So, today, or rather about a couple of hours ago, was my first anniversary with Cameron. And tonight was a night to remember.
It started with dinner at Sammy’s. Our waiter was nice, and also gay, so he celebrated with us a little by being cheery and supportive. Cameron and I talked about a wide range of topics before giving each other our presents. I got him a Hello Kitty coffee cup with matching canvas print, a Wonder Woman sticker, and two books: “Someday, Someday, Maybe” by Lauren Graham and the Adventure Time comic, “Playing with Fire” along with a card I made. He loved it all! And he got me a few moleskine notebooks! This big one in particular is about us, and I’m so excited to start filling it up! He also got me two little ones of a pretty blue color and it looks like I’ll be able to carry these around!
We stopped by Barnes and Noble for a bit where we geeked out about Harry Potter and retold the story of how we first met to an approving, supportive sales associate. She was so kind and sweet! We then headed to Arclight where we got snacks and got into a little scuffle with some mustard before settling down to watch Gravity. And boy was it good. It was visually superb and the story was thrilling and never stale! I’d definitely rewatch it, especially a director’s cut. The walk back to the car was extra fun actually, because Cameron walked me into a car and from there we started wobbling and flailing around the parking lot, pretending to be in space.
And now, here we are. He’s gone to bed early and I think I’m going to join him. I’m just so frickin’ happy right now, I can’t contain myself. It was a great day, a great night, and I can’t wait for the next years. <9
got called in around 3 for the 5-10 closing shift.
helped put together and call out orders at the grill. also did clean-up.
i’m so tired. i did laundry, a little homework, and a “ready for bed” shower.
if only my phone would finish restoring and updating.
i’m not even done with all my homework yet.
i have two quizzes tomorrow. one for japanese, one for african-american lit.
there’s still all the stuff i need to get done for friday too…
at least i don’t have work tomorrow.
the sun hasn’t risen yet
a chill breeze caresses our bare skin.
the sky turns a shade brighter,
every time a car rumbles by,
every time a distant bird caws,
every time we take a breath.
sitting on this rooftop with you,
gazing idly at the sky,
what are you looking for?
i’m right here.
